Tips for Designing a Low-Maintenance Bathroom

So you’re looking for a bathroom design that will impress, but you also want something that is low maintenance and easy to take care of?  More often than not, our clients come to us looking for exactly that.

Homeowners rejoice: designing a bathroom that will meet these needs is possible! Here are some tips to designing your low maintenance dream bathroom:

Low Maintenance Shower Design

A one-piece shower pan is a beautiful (and cost-effective) option for those that do not want the maintenance of a tile or stone shower pan.  Pair that with larger wall tiles to minimize grout.

Easy-to-Maintain Vanity Area

There are two important aspects to designing your vanity area: the cabinet and the countertop.

When choosing your cabinet, consider a simple door style like a shaker or a slab. These types of styles will be easier to clean because you won’t be dealing with the nooks and crannies that a more detailed door has.

When choosing your countertop, consider an integral sink and/or backsplash. Not only is the seamless look beautiful, but it is low maintenance and easy to clean.

Toilet Talk

Toilets are yucky and not fun to clean. There are so many nooks and crannies that you have to scrub for a perfectly polished toilet. In the last few years, toilet manufacturers like Kohler have expanded their toilet lines to include “concealed trapways”.

The best part of concealed trapways? There are no nooks and crannies to worry about from the traditional P-trap — just a few wipes and your toilet is squeaky clean!
