Project Overview

 

Unimpressed with the six contractors they had previously received estimates from, this Rancho Bernardo couple stumbled across Miramar Kitchen & Bath online. After a little more research, the couple decided to give us a call to see the services we had to offer. Upon learning more about our services, the couple visited our Design Center to see what materials we had on display. And, well, the rest is history.

With a budget of under $40,000, we worked with our new clients to pick the materials they envisioned, while offering tips for staying within the budget.

Design & Functionality

 

When it came down to the design, our clients knew exactly what they were looking for, but needed a little help in choosing the right color pairings. During the design phase, we helped our client coordinate everything from floor to cabinets and the countertop to the backsplash. We even helped our client choose the door style of the cabinet.  

The overall design of this kitchen is very traditional and encompasses an open family-friendly kitchen with plenty of seating around the peninsula to entertain. The warm tones and travertine backsplash of this kitchen create an inviting atmosphere with a cozy feel.

Cabinet space was incredibly important to our clients. In order to create the desired storage space in the cabinets, we added roll out shelves in the pantry, a lazy susan and a trash container pull-out.

The Challenges & Solutions

 

Our clients requested a coffee bar in the new design of their kitchen. However that presented a challenge–there was not enough room in the current configuration with the refrigerator and the pantry being placed next to one another.  

 

In order to meet this request, we slightly reconfigured the design of the kitchen by using the unwanted counter space as our canvas. We moved the pantry to the opposite side and slightly moved the refrigerator to accommodate a small coffee bar and extra cabinet and counter space.

The area was always cleaned up before they left…swept, wiped down…it was great!   Martin came by every day to check up on the job and stayed in close contact, available when I had questions or concerns. He was a lot of fun, and awesome to work with!  If he said he would be there for something, he was there!

Work began the Monday after Thanksgiving with a completion date scheduled for Dec. 28.  They finished ahead of expectations the Friday BEFORE Christmas!  We were thrilled!! The family came into town for the holidays and we could actually cook meals in the NEW kitchen!
